Restaurant Reviews
My first thought, another noisy Italian restaurant. I normaly do not like noisy restaurants, however there is always an exception to the rule and Gale's is one of those exceptions. The food is excellant, the service is warm and friendly and this is one noisy place that is worth going to. Try anything on the menu and it will be well prepared and delicious.

Lively and fun. Good food and good atmosphere. Lots of fun with an open kitchen, fun service and enjoyable food. A winner!

This is a "must" in dining experiences in Pasadena. Treat yourself to a delightful evening of wonderful service, exceptional food, and atmosphere which delights the senses. Be sure to order the mushroom ravioli (my tastebuds will never be the same!) and the antipasto chopped salad (what a wonderful blend of ingredients and fresh flavors), and you may wish to share the ravioli with others and order some of their other exceptional dishes as it is rich (but a must taste!) My daughter had the sauteed salmon which was a large portion and out of this world, and served with their sauteed spinach (another flavorful and delicately prepared dish), it was a realy a treat for her! This will become a frequent dining spot for my family. I brought my picky teenage girls and they loved it too!

My husband and I love Gale's. He is from Italy. As he says, "It is the only restaurant I've found in LA that makes me feel like I'm home." Rene and Gale are the perfect hosts, very welcoming and warm. The food is great. I'd list my favorites, but I'd end up detailing the entire menu. I do advise the apple tart if it's one of the dessert specials. My only complaint is that I break my diet every time we go :).

I was looking for a restaurant I hadn't heard of, something to discover, and I found it in Gale's. It's off the beaten path on Fair Oaks south of Old Town, even south of Del Mar in a sleepy section of town surrounded by antique shops. I'd heard Gale's was 'unpretentious' which it is but that makes it sound simple which it's most definitely not. It's exquisite without being showy and fundamental without being plain. Even after sampling the warm, crusty-on-the-outside, just-a-hint-of-rosemary bread served with balsamic vinegar and oil and a salad made simply of romaine, shaved parmesan cheese, red onions and a delicate Italian dressing, I knew this was going to be a memorable experience. Something must be said for preparing food using the freshest, best quality ingredients. For my entrée I had a baked penne pasta dish in a light Bolognese sauce with just the right amount of melted mozzarella and parmesan cheese and, except for the portion being enormous, it was faultless. This lovely meal ended with some delectable, complementary biscotti for dessert. I’ll be heading back to Gale’s soon to maybe try their Portabello Mushroom Sandwich or one of their salads. I noticed they offer a ‘Salad Trio’ where one can choose three salads since I’m having trouble deciding between a Caprese Salad, a Baby Spinach and Gorgonzola, and a Rustic Caesar. Gale’s pizzas with a wide variety of toppings such as rosemary roasted chicken, capicola, goat cheese, and pesto remain to be discovered as well.

Although we don't reside nearby, my fiance and I have eaten at Gale's many a time, joining our friends who do happen to live in Pasadena. The food is always served to perfection. We favor the Tuscan Steak (country style). Our lovely hosts Gale and Rene always make us feel like family. They have a marvelous wine list however they never discourage us to bring in our own bottle or two, as they like to sample as well!! If you happen to like Martinis, check out Misha's Jalapeno Martini! It is one big flavor bomb!! The chocolate chip Cannoli is a wonderful option for dessert and they serve up their Cappucino in HUGE mugs! The wait staff is excellent and very attentive.
