This food at this place is no better than Panda Express. My wife does like the Wor Wonton soup here, otherwise we have nothing good to say about this place. The dining area is loud (poor acoustics) and cramped. The service is terrible, you have to order by the numbers and if you attempt to request any changes you are in trouble. Most of the staff speaks no english but they pretend to understand. When you finally get your food it is usually not what was ordered. The food itself is invariably poorly prepared. Whatever you do, do not order the sweet and sour dishes. The sweet and sour pork and chicken both look delicious with large pieces, however, you end up with a ton of breading and a small piece of hard rubbery meat. The only dishes that taste good are the various soups. We have given up on this place.
Authentic Chinese. I order delivery from here at least once a month. The lunch specials are inexpensive and large. My fiancé and I like there cream cheese wantons, Hunan beef, crispy duck, bbq pork lo mein and war wanton soup. The problem we have with Grandview is that we usually order WAY too much because we love their food so much. Make sure you ask for their chili oil and something cold to wash it down with. Looking for a tasty appetizer, get their BBQ Pork Spare Ribs. For those of you who choose to dine in, the restaurant is small and the staff do not speak English from what I've observed. Just order by the numbers and you should be fine.
My husband and I have been eating here since we were college kids living in Pasadena. It's the kind of place you think about when you're craving Chinese food that isn't totally unauthentic like Panda Express. Grandview offers a no fuss, no frills kind of experience, but definitely delicious Chinese food at a very cheap price. Try the daily lunch special, which is under $5 and complete with rice, soup, salad and eggroll. You return for the food, but unfortunately, not for the ambiance -- the dining area is very small, outdated, and dim (no windows). There are a few tables for large families, but mostly booths. Parking is limited in adjacent free lot. But very friendly, prompt service. Would recommend for casual lunch, early or late dinner, or take-out or delivery. Wouldn't go during prime dinner times, it gets very crowded. Try it - your tummy (or wallet) won't be disappointed.
Good food, large portions, great prices, fast service, delicious hot and sour soup. Love it.
